Overview

Screen UI is designed as a local macOS screen recorder and editor. Your recordings, project files, exported videos, imported media, transcripts, overlays, and editing choices are stored on your Mac unless you choose to move, share, upload, or export them elsewhere.

This policy explains what the Screen UI app and website handle, what stays local, and when third-party services may be involved.

Information you provide

If you email Screen UI for support, we receive the information you include in that message, such as your email address, question, attachments, logs, screenshots, or recordings you intentionally send.

Recordings and local project data

Screen UI records and edits screen, window, selected-area, camera, microphone, system-audio, cursor, keyboard-shortcut, transcript, background, annotation, and project data only when you use the related features and grant the required macOS permissions.

Screen UI project packages are saved locally as .screenui files. Exported files are written to the location you choose. Screen UI does not automatically upload recordings, projects, transcripts, or exported media to Screen UI servers.

Permissions

macOS may ask you to grant permissions such as Screen Recording, Camera, Microphone, Accessibility, or Input Monitoring. These permissions are used to provide the recording, camera, audio, cursor, and keyboard-overlay features you enable.

You can manage these permissions in macOS System Settings. Disabling a permission may limit the related Screen UI feature.

Transcription and processing

When local transcription or caption features are used, Screen UI is built around Apple speech and media frameworks available on your Mac. Processing behavior may depend on your macOS version, installed language support, and Apple system services.

Screen UI does not operate a separate cloud transcription service for your recordings.

Website data

The Screen UI website is a static website. It may be served through hosting and infrastructure providers that process standard technical data such as IP address, browser, device, requested URL, timestamps, and security logs to deliver the site and protect the service.

The website may link to third-party services, including download, hosting, or support workflows. Those services are governed by their own privacy policies.

Retention

Local recordings, projects, exports, imported assets, and generated sidecar files remain under your control on your Mac until you delete them.

Support emails and related correspondence may be retained as long as needed to respond, maintain business records, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations.
